The movie “The Big Blue” by Luc Besson made Amorgos diving waters famous. The seabed of Amorgos has ancient shipwrecks and natural reefs. An interesting Amorgos diving spot is, for example, is Nikouria just outside the beach of Agios Pavlos with an underwater cave full of colorful sponges and fishes. Another diving spot is the shipwreck of the cargo vessel Marina 3 that wrecked in 1981 at the close island of Skinopi, few minutes by boat from Amorgos.
There are some diving centers who offer diving courses for all ages and diving trips around the wild coastline of the island.
Since 2017 the “The Authentic Big Blue” been held on the island, a free diving tournament in honor to the legendary film “The Big Blue”. The film is a love story about the sea, two unique athletes, an endless competition, the main theme of the film that became a benchmark for the free-diving community worldwide.

Amorgos Diving Centre located on the beach walk in Aegiali. Amorgos Diving Center is the only PADI 5 star Diving resort on Amorgos. They offer a number of activities and courses to suit all levels from beginner to experienced divers, such as underwater photography, peak performance buoyancy, night diving and much more.
