Archaeological sights on Amorgos - Ancient Aegiali Vigla

Ancient Aegiali is located opposite the village of Tholaria on the hill of Vigla (212m above sea level) with a stunning view of the gorge Mikri Glifada. In the area Vigla was the Acropolis of the time and the largest sculpture from the Cycladic period was found here. The site was inhabited from the 10th century BC. and they built here for its strategic location with both land and sea views.

Today remain only a few parts of the wall, carvings in the surrounding cliffs and statues from the Hellenistic period.

How to get there

There is a walking path from Tholaria which takes about 15 min, do not forget to bring a bottle of water.
